About Me

I'm Grace, a fashion design student dabbling in costume design who enjoys all things meal planning and healthy eating. 

I love reading, watching tv and movies, designing (but not while at uni!) and of course cooking. 

I moved to Melbourne from the Gold Coast in 2011 to start my uni course. The transition was hard on me and I gained almost ten kilos in a few months. I had no family, I only had my boyfriend who was working a 7am-10pm job 6 days a week and I was at uni four days a week. I started to become really unhealthy. I started counting calories which only lead to me "saving" them for a massive dinner. I would like to highlight the fact that:

The largest I'd ever been was when I was eating the least. 

Something had to be done. I had my eye-opening moment. I stopped 'dieting' and 'detoxing' and just changed my lifestyle completely. I stopped getting takeout and made more of my own meals. I started meal planning and taking my own lunches to uni. I started running even though I had never done it before. I started exercising. 

All of this I did on a budget. I have never had a gym membership. I don't go to gyms, I just exercise at home and eat healthy food. I don't count calories. I indulge every once in a while. But I also believe everyone is different and what works for someone may not work for everyone else. 

Healthy In Design came about when I realised I wanted to share my recipes and healthy lifestyle tips with others, as I always love reading other healthy lifestyle blogs and love hearing tips from everyone so if you've got any, please send them my way!
